Title: 2017-2022 Journey to the Search for Beauty: Alessandro Butera's Anthological Exhibition
The anthological exhibition "2017-2022 Journey to the Search for Beauty" represents a five-year journey of artistic study and research, a period in which my stylistic sensibility has evolved and transformed. It is a journey, in fact, towards the search for beauty, understood not as a predefined aesthetic canon, but as an ideal of pure emotion, an inner exploration, an instinctive path towards well-being.
This exhibition, held in Palermo in August 2023 at San Mattia a i Crociferi conceived as a visual and emotional journey that aims to transport the visitor into a world made of shapes, colors, and light. A world where art is not just to be looked at, but to be lived and felt. The exhibited works testify to this evolution, ranging from action painting to abstract expressionism and leading to experiments with kinetic art and Spatialism.
There are paintings that capture the energy and immediacy of the pictorial gesture, extroflexed canvases, inspired by the spatialist movement, which go beyond the two-dimensionality of the canvas, abstract sculptures, which explore the relationship between form, matter, and space, and experimental luminous bas-reliefs, which blend art and technology, where light becomes the protagonist of the work's aesthetics.
During the event, I wanted to share my creative process with the public, creating a painting live. An opportunity to express, through the language of signs and colors, the emotions experienced during this unique experience. The exhibition is accompanied by the catalog "2017-2022 Journey to the Search for Beauty", which collects the most significant works of this period.
